Upcoming Star Trek Cineconcerts write up in the Los Angeles Times

Life sometimes comes full circle. About 25 years ago, I started promoting score albums for a new client, GNP Crescendo Records. I started promoting the classic Star Trek TV series scores and set up interviews for Alexander Courage and Gerald Fried. Separately, I was promoting Nichelle Nichols for her Star Trek album as well as her star on The Walk of Fame. Then I was promoting Next Generation and Dennis McCarthy and Jay Chattaway. Dennis would be the first composer to hire meĀ independently of a label and then I helped Jay promote an organization that he was the president of, The Society of Composers and Lyricists (The SCL). My first scoring session I attended was for a new theme of a Star Trek TV show. During the break I grabbed the composer and said, “I need you for some photos.” People couldn’t believe how aggressive I was telling the studio. “Hey I need him for 5 minutes!” That composer was Jerry Goldsmith. I’ve lost a bit of my arrogance through the years. In addition to the composers I named, I was blessed to work with so many composers in that universe for Star Trek projects and independently…Velton Ray Bunch, Mark McKenzie, Cliff Eidelman, Ron Jones, and actors from the series including Scott Bakula, Tim Russ, and most recently i spent three days with the great William Shatner to promote this Star trek 100 city concert tour with Justin Freer. Star Trek introduced me to film & TV music, which has become the centerpiece of what we do at Costa Communications for over 25 years. I am thrilled that CineConcerts gave me the opportunity to reunite and set up interviews for virtually everyone I worked with in the Star Trek universe. Additionally, I am also working on getting a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Jerry Goldsmith. I am honored and thankful that I have gotten to be on this journey…And I am grateful to Jon Burlingame for chronicling so much of this franchises’ history and film & TV music as a whole.
Concerts this Friday and Saturday at Pantages in Los Angeles!!!
